Ireland is welcoming Nigerians and other foreign workers by offering work permits for those with critical skills needed in various sectors like production management, ICT, health, social services, engineering, information technology, and telecommunications. The program aims to address a shortage of skilled workers in Ireland.
To be eligible for the Critical Skills Employment Permit, applicants must have a job offer for two years or more from a registered Irish company, with an annual salary meeting specified criteria. The permit does not require labor market needs tests, and applicants can apply online, with a fee of €1,000.
Successful applicants are required to obtain a visa before entering Ireland and must register with the local authorities upon arrival. The permit allows individuals to bring their families, and partners can work in Ireland without a separate permit.
The Critical Skills Employment Permit is initially issued for two years, and after this period, skilled workers can apply for Stamp 4 permission to live and work in Ireland without an employment permit. Citizenship by naturalization is possible after residing in Ireland for five years. If not eligible for Stamp 4, candidates may be issued with Stamp 1 and will continue to need an employment permit for work.
