Telecom companies are urging the government to approve a 10% to 15% increase in call and data tariffs for Nigerian subscribers.
The request has been ongoing since November last year, with operators citing the need to adjust prices due to years of unchanged rates and inflation.
The government is yet to grant approval, and discussions are ongoing to ensure the increase doesn’t adversely affect low-income Nigerians.
The National Association of Telecommunications Subscribers (NATCOMS) president, Deolu Ogunbanjo, has expressed opposition to the proposed tariff hike.
