President Bola Tinubu said on Monday that the 2024 budget has set aside N100 billion for school feeding programs. He mentioned this while signing the 2024 appropriation bill into law at the State House in Abuja. Tinubu explained that this allocation is meant to encourage more students to attend school and address the issue of children who are not in school.
He emphasized that the N100 billion provision is aimed at boosting school enrollment and tackling malnutrition among school children. The President plans to work with local governments at various levels to implement a comprehensive program.
President Tinubu also confirmed that the budget, named “Renewed Hope,” focuses on reducing regular expenses while increasing spending on capital projects. In December, he had directed the reintroduction of the school feeding program and shifted its responsibility from the Humanitarian Ministry to the Education Ministry.
